License Portfolio

Wintershall currently holds 41 licenses in Norway of which 21 are operated. Licenses are located in all areas of offshore Norway including the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. They include a spread of acreage within the more mature areas of the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea plus licenses in less explored areas of the Barents Sea. Exploration success has been very good and Wintershall holds equity in the “Knarr”, “Luno”, “Astero”, “Grosbeak” and “Maria” discoveries. An intensive drilling programme was completed in 2010 with the drilling of 9 wells in total – 5 exploration and 4 appraisal. Many of the wells were successful and work continues with respect to the potential commerciality and appraisal requirements of the discoveries. Wintershall also holds interests in the Delta, Murchison and Veslefrikk producing fields. The Yme field is being developed with first production expected in 2012.

The Wintershall Stavanger office also works and manages Wintershall activity in the Northern and Central North Sea areas offshore UK. 17 licenses are held of which 3 are operated. 7 wells were drilled in these licenses in 2010 including the successful drilling of the Catcher and Cladhan discoveries. Wintershall holds an interest in the Broom producing field.

Acreage was applied for in the Norway 21st Round with results expected in Q2 2011 and evaluation continues now for the forthcoming 2011 APA round in Norway and the 27th Round in the UK.
